Dates for next year's Belfast Children's Festival
- Add them to your diary now!
We can’t be together in person this year, so we’ve learned to play in a new way. Here are some of the resources we’ve gathered and created to enhance your BCF21 online festival experience.
If you’ve ever been to a Belfast Children’s Festival Family Day, you’ll know we have the most fun craft workshops for children and young people. Because we’re online this year, we’ve created some ‘how to’ packs so you can make your own festival crafts at home. Our artist in residence has developed these step by step guides to get ready for the last weekend of BCF21:
A home ticket booth; just like the famous YAA ticket booths you may have seen in Belfast venues at previous festivals-but in miniature. You can sell tickets, snacks and performance programmes. We just hope your cat or doggy ticket booth attendant doesn’t let anyone sneak into the performance late!
A baby ‘Y’; Create your own version of our much loved furry ‘Y’s and display them in your home. Why not cover them in glitter and glue (sorry, grown-ups) for added ‘WOW’? You can experiment with different ways of displaying your ‘Y’, maybe you can make it stand up or do both sides and hang it somewhere to spin!
Baby Rave décor; There’s still a whole other weekend to enjoy Baby Rave @Home on QFT player so why not get your home ‘rave ready’ with these easy to make disco balls and club decorations?
Our friends at Secondhand Dance have shared these beautiful Grass Films activity packs with us, full of sensory dance ideas for you to explore. You can do these activities inside or outside – it would be perfect if you can find a patch of grass to explore on!
Learn to move like an insect, explore grass with our hands and feet and explore moving in the rain.
Try warming up, then jumping and rolling around. Or connect with nature by smelling, feeling and listening. Collect fallen flowers, seeds and leaves to create a ‘nature rainbow’.
If you’ve fallen for the beautiful White:The Film, you can continue the experience through White: The App
White invites you into an enchanting world where eggs fall from the sky and colors come to life. Based on hit children's show White, this free digital toy is designed for parents & very young children to enjoy together. Internationally acclaimed Catherine Wheels Theatre Company have joined with Hippotrix to create the world's first children's app inspired by theatre.
White: The App is an enchanting playful world for preschoolers, based on hit theatre show White
